@pollinationproject A course about the botanical g @pollinationproject A course about the botanical garden in the Anthropocene. The garden of microclimates consists of 4 sites. Located at the pond in front of Industrial Engineering, behind the Library, one of the Applied Physics courtyards and one in front of EWI they all showcase different, existing microclimates. Varying from wet, dry, shady, sunny or windy. Each site highlights these components and contributes to the biodiversity. #botanicalgarden #gardening #tudelftcampus #mekelpark #anthropocene #studentwork #onsite
The last project we visited during this excursion, The last project we visited during this excursion, Overdiepse polder, is a bit harder to grasp. The farms have been relocated on large mounds, at the edge of the polder and connected to the improved dike. What remains is a vast, open agricultural landscape, with the ruins of the old pumping station as lonely landmark in the middle.
Landscape and architecture of the technical infras Landscape and architecture of the technical infrastructure in Noordwaard are connected in clever ways. The brickwork of the top part of this pumping station is reused from removed farms. The lower part is made of new, more water resistent bricks. The colour change indicates maximum expected water levels of floods. Electrical equipment, that must remain dry at all times, is located in the upper part. The height gave the opportunity to make a public elevated platform with 360 degree views of the surrounding landscape.
